Piracy is NOT supported here:Please limit your posts and responses to modding your Wii. Posts and comments that imply, hint, or state out-right, intentions of piracy and/or any other illegal activity will be removed. You won't receive a warning.
The post or comment, if seen by a mod, will simply be removed. Do it more than once and we'll remove your ability to post. Again, you will receive no warning, and ignorance is no excuse. To clarifiy: Piracy!= Breaking Terms of Service.Pirating intellectual property is not the same as violating a company's terms of service. The former has a chance of landing you in jail, the latter could at most result in a civil suit with a fine (in the USA anyway). Piracy goes directly against the forum rules. Violating a TOS does not.Luckily this greatly simplifies what you as a poster needs to remember about piracy and this forum. Piracy is simply theft.
Don't talk about stealing something, whether you've done it, or are going to do it. If you have obtained what you're talking about in a way the law would consider stealing, you're violating the piracy rule.Talking about violating a company's TOS with your legally obtained equipment and software does not violate this rule. If it did, there'd be no reason for this forum to exist. Rules of Social ConductThis shouldn't need to be said, but No abuse and no spam.
And don't make us have to define either. If you have any problems or questions, feel free to message a moderator. Problems?Have you botched the modding process? To answer a common question on botched installs; NO you do not have to undo anything. As long as your Wii is still (mostly) functional, find some help, start the modding process over. You (almost) never need to undo what you've already done.If you post a request for help, and it is eventually resolved in the thread, please update the original post with a solution so people won't have to hunt through the comments.
Un-modding your WiiSimply put; No. It can be done to an extent, but there are some things you will never undo. If you want to un-mod your Wii because your current mod job is causing problems, find a better tutorial, start over.If there is anything else you'd like added here, just PM it to one of the Mods.
Some people may have heard of the fan-made hack of the popular Wii game New Super Mario Bros Wii. Others haven't heard of it. The thing is, it's an amazing hack, almost the whole game was changed. People sometimes have trouble installing the hack, so I'm here to help.
In this instructable I'll show you how to download and install New Super Mario Bros Wii. What you will need: -A computer with at least 4GB of empty space and a good Internet connection -An SD card with at least 4GB of empty space -A Wii -A retail copy of the game New Super Mario Bros Wii -Lots of patience. First, please make sure that your Wii is connected to the internet.
Then, go to the options menu. Make sure your Wii is at the latest version, 4.3. If your Wii is fully updated, go to the 'Internet' settings and go to 'Console Information'. Write down your MAC address. Next, go back to your computer and go. Input your Wii's MAC address, select the System Menu version and fill in the Captcha.
Be sure that the button labeled, 'Bundle the hackmii installer for me' is checked. Cut the red wire. A.zip file will begin to download, save it.
Windows users can use an archiving tool like 7Zip or WinRar to unzip the LetterBomb file. Mac users have archiving utilities built in. Just double click on the.zip and it will extract. Once extracted, the.txt files in the newly created LetterBomb folder can be deleted, they are not needed for the hack. Now, you need to plug your SD card with at least 4GB into your computer. In the root of the SD card, there might be a folder called, 'private'. If there is, just rename the folder to 'privateold'.
Now, take the contents of the LetterBomb folder and place them in the SD card. This should only take a few seconds. Remember, only copy the contents of the LetterBomb folder, not the actual folder itself.
Once the files have been copied to the SD card, you can delete the LetterBomb folder, it will not be used again in this tutorial. Properly eject the SD card from your computer and place it into the SD slot in your Wii.
Next, go to the Wii Message Board. Scroll a few pages back until you see a red envelope with a bomb shape inside and an SD icon hovering over it. Click on the icon. Scroll to the bottom of the message and click confirm. After about 10 seconds, a page that looks similar to image 9 should show up. It may take a minute or two for the 'Press 1 to continue' to show up, but be patient.
When it does, press 1. Next, press A to continue.
On the next page, use the D-Pad and A to choose to install the Homebrew Channel. When the Homebrew Channel has finished installing, select 'Exit' and go back to the Wii Menu. A new channel should have appeared in the next empty space on the Menu, that channel should be the Homebrew Channel. Once the Homebrew Channel has been installed and you have plugged your SD card back into your computer, you can delete the LetterBomb files and rename 'privateold' back to 'private'. Next, download Riivolution by clicking. On the SD card, create a new folder called 'apps'. Unzip riivolution.zip and place the contents of the new 'riivolution' folder into the 'apps' folder on the SD card.
You should already have downloaded Newer Super Mario Bros Wii from the site. In case you haven't,. As I said earlier, the download may take a few hours, so be patient. Now, extract NewerSMBW.zip.
This process will take a few seconds. The extracted.zip should produce two folders.
One should be called 'NewerSMBW' and the other 'riivolution'. Move these two folders onto the root of the SD card.
It will take a few minutes to copy the files. When completed, the SD card should have either 3 or 4 folders in it. The folders are 'NewerSMBW' 'riivolution' 'apps' and 'private'.

Please note, the 'private' folder is not required. Newer Super Mario Bros Wii was made by a non-profit group that just wanted to make a hack of the original game for fun. I do not own LetterBomb, Riivolution, or Newer Super Mario Bros Wii.

I'm just trying to help people out. Links: Troubleshooting: -If the game doesn't work, be sure that you followed all of the directions -If the game crashes when you finish World 7, just restart your Wii and it should work just fine -Motion Plus controllers don't always work NOTICE: I am no longer able to help you troubleshoot any issues that you may come across while trying to install Newer Super Mario Bros. Hi Primalus; I thank you for continuing to help people troubleshoot the steps for installing the game for three years, since you are the only person to go to for support as of right now. It seems as if I completed all the steps (refusing to install Riivolution and the Homebrew channel) correctly, but the game/console freezes on the wrist strap screen (the second photo). If I'm lucky enough, I can make it past the wrist strap screen, but the game will still freeze on the 'hold your Wii Remote sideways screen' (the third photo). Even then, the screen of the original nsmbw shows up (the third photo)!
Since I am using a Chromebook, please review my photo of the files to see if I did everything right. I made sure the hack was enabled, my SD card, was unlocked, and even tried erasing that line of code, but nothing different happened.
I would really appreciate it if you could find a solution. I've never used a Chromebook before, so I'm not sure what extra files may be added when you copy/delete files form the SD card. That may be causing a problem. I get that you really don't want to install the Homebrew Channel or Riivolution, but that's probably the best way to ensure that everything works.
I'll consult some friends online about this (they have a pretty good understanding of this) and see what they have to say about this, though I'm pretty sure that you need to at least install the Homebrew Channel. It's been a few years since I've done this, so sorry if I'm not of much help. It is possible to have multiple hacks on an SD Card at the same time and use Riivolution, but I wouldn't suggest it. If you want to keep them all on the SD Card, just put them all in the right folder.
In Riivolution, make sure to select the hack you want and deselect all other hacks. I'm not sure what happens when you have multiple hacks enabled, but I assume that it's not good. If you are fine with trading them out with your computer, just replace the current hack file with the one that you want. I'd suggest making a folder somewhere in your Documents library and saving all of your hacks and saves there.
